Meet the Teacher

Welcome to 7th Grade math class!  My name is Marilyn Julius.  I will be teaching math to your child this year.  I am “bubbling” over with excitement about beginning another year here at Yellow Breeches Middle School.   I enjoy the energy and excitement from 7th grade students!  I also enjoy helping them find ways to organize their papers and their work.  I have 3 three grown boys of my own.  All three have graduated from Penn State University with Engineering(2 of them) or Architecture(1 of them) degrees.  I am very proud of their accomplishments and I am also proud to be a Grandma of 3.

This year, following the Common Core 7th grade curriculum, we will aim to explore math in ways that will enable students to see how math is important in their own lives.  Please take time to read the Course Syllabus or just collect/locate all Course Syllabi from all classes for future reference throughout the year.  My Course Syllabus is located in my Google Classroom under "Resources".  I have provided a hard copy, short version of some key ideas from the math Course Syllabus on the first day letter to parents.  Be sure to find and read both the short list on the letter and the online attachment in Google Classroom.

In math, it is especially important to keep up with the material and work given.  Practice is most important when learning the concepts of math.  I will be available for help before school and during flex.  Extra help will be available during Tier II flex periods.  Math Tier II will occur on even days of the cycle days and Language Arts Tier II will occur on odd days of the cycle days.  Please encourage your child to take advantage of those times.  Also, keep in mind that we will be offering free homework help on Mondays and Wednesdays after school in the library.  Free tutoring also will be available this year.  More information will come as plans are made for that service.  If problems come up, do not hesitate to get help!

The
Yellow Breeches Open House for parents is scheduled for Thursday, August 31, 2023  at 5:30 PM.  I would love to meet you then!

I look forward to working with your child this year!

Sincerely,
Marilyn L. Julius
