Meet the Teacher
Bonjour! Je m'appelle Emily Mater.

I am a SMSD graduate and glad to be a Bubbler once again! I attended Messiah University where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in French education.

I also studied abroad for a semester in Strasbourg, France. While studying at the Université de Strasbourg, I took classes in language, history, phonics, rhetoric and more. I also lived with a host family while I was there.

After graduating college, I worked as a substitute for awhile and then as a private school teacher while also facilitating online French classes at another school district. Then, in fall of 2017, I came to South Middleton school district.

I also received my Master's degree, from Messiah University, in TESOL with a PA English as a Second Language (ESL) program specialist certification.

I believe that teaching is a profession that you should have a desire for and I certainly do. I am invested in the lives of my students both inside and outside of the classroom. Not only do I love to teach but I also love to learn as I learn a lot from my students.
